Courtown Training Initiative

Courtown training initiative is a community-based training initiative funded by WWETB.

The first pilot programme started in January 2018.

The learners can stay on the program for eighteen months, where they can achieve a QQI level 3 ‘Employability skills’ major award, followed by a QQI level 4 ‘Pathway to Employment’ major award.

The program is aimed at young learners seventeen years plus who have left school early, not completed their second level education or are in receipt of a social welfare payment. There are fourteen places on the program.

The program offers the learners the chance to explore a wide range of modules in a relaxed supported environment. Classes are blended with a practical emphasis designed to allow learners to express themselves and gain skills that will enable them to progress to further education or gain pre apprenticeship qualifications. We work with every learner individually to ensure they have a progression plan when they finish.
