Little Daisies Childcare Centre operates on a philosophy of providing high quality care in a safe, warm and nurturing environment. We offer a family centered approach valuing the partnerships with parents/guardians. It is our goal to develop strong attachments with each child and trusting relationships with our families. We use a key worker approach, which supports strong relationships, emotional needs and extends on the child’s learning and development. We promote consistency in the child’s relationships with our Early Years Educators, support and prepare each child as they transition throughout the rooms within our centre and finally onto primary education.
A day in the life of a child in Little Daisies includes both flexibility and structure. We understand that structure is important to support predictable routines which gives the children a sense of security. We recognize the need to be flexible and meet the changing and revolving needs of the children. We see our outdoor area as an equally important part of our curriculum where a lot of valuable learning experiences happen. The children have access to the outdoor areas throughout the day.
We use an enquiry based, emergent curriculum, guided by the national frameworks Aistear and Siolta. These state that play is key to children’s intellectual, social, emotional, physical and language development. Play promotes social skills, problem solving skills and interpersonal skills. Our Early Years Educators set up the classrooms daily to maximize meaningful play opportunities. They observe the children during play, offering support when needed and scaffolding each child’s learning. Our invitations to play provide each individual child with developmentally appropriate experiences so that they may grow to their fullest potential. The emergent curriculum approach is based on using the children’s interests, questions, ideas and passions to develop purposeful, intentional and enjoyable learning experiences.
We aim to provide each child and their families with happy, fun experiences while in our care, making loving memories to last a life time and help develop the skills they need to grow into strong, capable, happy, unique children.
